Windy and Wild - Kona Family Photographer

This had to have been one of the windiest sessions to date! I mean, a little wind-blown beach hair is iconic, but it proves a little challenging with a group of 13. The evening was beautiful though with some delicious light and a perfect sunset. This family powered through and stayed fun and relaxed - evidence that they simply enjoy being around each other. And maybe being in Hawaii! Mahalo to the Mathies family - it was a pleasure! #hawaiibeachphotography #bigislandhawaiifa

Steve & Tatiana - Big Island surprise proposal

Don't you wish every man had the foresight to hire a photographer when he proposed? I was so excited to help Steve when he called me up and wanted to plan a surprise proposal to Tatiana on their first night in Hawaii. I don't know if he was more nervous, or if I was! I hid myself in a giant naupaka bush and waited for them to walk down the beach trail. It was a perfect night, with the sun just beginning to set and long shadows starting to fall. This is my baby. She promised that she'd always be my baby, but I have a sinking suspicion that she'll break that promise sooner than later! Not everybody is lucky enough to grow up with their best friend as their sister and go through all of life's big events with her by their side. It seemed like our lives have always been strangely parallel. From marrying brothers a month apart, to having a baby every other year, to

Houston, we have liftoff.

Yay! I'm so incredibly excited to launch my new photography website here in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. After living in the beautiful mountains of Idaho for most of my growing up life, we said goodbye to everything familiar and jumped on a plane across the ocean. About 2 years ago, both Jason and I begin to wonder if God might have us move to Hawaii to help his brother with a little church he was starting. It seemed like such a far-off dream at the time, but here I am typing with a
